I have been really great at procrastinating for the past 3 years. After 4 years bartending, one unrelated job after another, owning a business and managing others- I am ready to focus on my own work. I have been renting a studio for the past few months and slowly but surely have been getting it up and going. Ben Graham-Putter helped me install some heavy duty electric to get my kiln up and running last weekend. I have been getting more organized and knocking things off my to-do list left and right.
The main goal is to get my Custom Ceramic Urns business up and running. Over the past few months I have hung my art in the studio, moved in my kiln, repaired my kiln, rigged my aerial sling, showed my work at 2 different group shows, one at Gallery 788 and another at Creative Alliance. Worked on new paintings and ceramics projects. Built coddling boards for slip casting, mixed up slip and even remembered how to measure the specific gravity of said slip! (1.7) I have been trying to organize and create achievable goals.
In the mean time I have a long list of fun projects to work on. Delftware inspired motorcycle dinnerware, bone and ceramics experiments, slip-casting and hand building. Ed Roth inspired painting. Finish 2 half complete paintings of abandoned interiors.
This week I will:
- finish my etsy
- order transparencies for t-shirts and business cards
- Prepare and burn silk screens for business cards and t-shirts
- Print, gold leaf and trim business cards
- Create another 1 part cup mold
- Cast full set of dishes and cups
- Attach screen printing clamps to either table or board
- Photograph paintings
Little by little.
